M. Denise Tolliver, Executive DirectorAs executive director, Denise helps provide program vision and direction as well as leadership administrative and development direction. Denise's tenure at Delaware Futures began July 16, 2001. Denise graduated from Delaware State University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education; she holds a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Delaware State also. An educator with more than 26 years of classroom teaching and administrative experience in public schools, Denise's commitment to help students earn a college degree to become sucessful in life arises from her own experiences as a teenage parent and first generation college graduate.Evette Houston, Program Manager, Program DirectorEvette graduated from Bennett College for Women with a Bachelor's of Art in Psychology. She plans to extend her educational credentials in the future by attending the University of Delaware to study Urban Affairs and Public Policy with an emphasis on Community Development. Some of her professional affiliations include memberships of Greater Saint Matthew Baptist Church, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Toastmasters Club, and the Delaware Valley Bennett College Alumnae chapter.Debra Jackson Spence, Development OfficerDebra Jackson Spence has been appointed as the Development Officer for Delaware Futures. She will oversee the organization's fundraising initiatives for their planned expansion. Debra graduated from Morgan State University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and received her master's degree in counseling from the University of Delaware. She has over 25 years work experience in the private and public sectors. Debra is a member of several local boards of directors and she continues to work in local and community initiatives.Spencer L. Harper, Class AdvisorSpencer L. Harper, an educator / mentor, has 10 plus years experience interacting with students of all ages in teaching, counseling, coaching, and student advocacy. He has worked closely with students both at Drexel and Cheyney universities in a teaching and mentoring capacity. Spence has a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a master's of elementary education from Cheyney University. He strongly believes that education and its foundation are essential for our children to become respectful, insightful, and productive citizens.Carson Henry, Public AllyCarson is the newest addition to the Delaware Futures team. Carson is a Brooklyn, NY native and recent graduate of the University of Delaware. He enjoys long walks on the beach and extreme dodge ball. Carson studied Philosophy during his undergraduate career at the University of Delaware. He was the President of the Black Student Union, a radio personality, a mentor, and part of the university police department. He hopes to someday take over the world…after he returns to New York City. |
