Program Overview

The program has four major components:
  • Academic Enrichment – Tutoring, in-school advocacy, interface, and referral to ancillary programs for additional support;
  • Adventure-Based Learning – Physical problem-solving, from ropes courses to outdoor adventure trips to build self-esteem and positive peer interaction;
  • Community Services – Learning how to give to people that are less fortunate; targeted work with other organizations, identifying social problems that may be assisted in Wilmington; and
  • Internships – Workplace experiences designed to foster positive motivation for academic achievement, appropriate course selection, professional behavior, and community involvement.

       60 high school students actively in program; 111  graduates
    HS Student Demographics
       36 Females, 24 Males.
       34 African-American, 10 Latino-American, 6 Caucasian, 4 Multi-Racial American, 4 Asian-American, and 2 International.

    Delaware Futures Graduates

    May 22, 2007 Delaware Futures held its annual graduation ceremony. Among our 13 graduates, 100% were accepted and are attending higher learning institutions as follows: University of Delaware, DelTech, Wilmington College, Goldey-Beacom College, Wesley College, Lincoln University, Berry College, East Carolina, and Elizabeth Town.

    Program graduates are attending the following:
       University of Delaware, Delaware State University, Delaware Technical and Community College, Wilmington College, Wesley College, Goldey Beacom, Sewanee, and Drexel. Our other partnering colleges are Swarthmore, Lincoln, and Cheyney.
