Projected Budget Fiscal Year 2005-2006 Academic Support ServicesIncluded in this category are expenses for individual and peer meetings with staff; computer lab software and supervision; twice weekly one-on-one tutoring sessions; college guidance activities; support for students at their schools through meetings of Delaware Futures staff with teachers, counselors, specialists; Academic Week, an intensive campus-based introductory week in the summer for incoming students; and PSAT and SAT practice sessions provided to older students by program staff.Community Awareness and InteractionThis category includes expenses for the development and supervision of a broad range of internships for Delaware Futures students; identification and supervision of community service projects for students, special programs relating to community issues or awareness; networking necessary for appropriate collaboration with government, private and public programs offering services to young adults.Adventure-Based LearningAdventure based counseling elements comprise this category. These include summer wilderness trip for freshmen and sophomores and community-service/cultural trips for juniors and seniors; a winter weekend retreat for each class of students; a ropes course experience for the entire student group. Physical problem-solving initiatives and teambuilding activities that form part of the weekly group meetings and the Summer Academic Week also belong in this category.Program DevelopmentThe program is developed in three ways: by recruiting additional students annually through developing a strong presence in middle schools; by strengthening ties with the partnering colleges and with college-based organizations servicing our student population; and by exposing staff members to new models and thinking through conferences, training and professional meetings.AdministrationBasic expenses for program administration include audit fees, office supplies and equipment, staff and director's insurance, bookkeeping expenses, postage, copying, and phones. |
